PAVING
Q. Is it better to have Paving or Poured Limestone around my pool?
A. Although poured limestone looks great, you need to weigh up the pro's and con's of having paving over concrete or poured limestone.
Below are a few things to consider before deciding the surrounds of your pool.
-
Paving can be lifted if there are any unseen problems in the future.
-
Paving comes in a range of different colours and textures and also allows for different borders.
-
Paving is cheaper per square metre.
-
Paving is alot more colour consistent if extending at a later stage.
-
Paving will not crack in the future.
Q. Is it safe to use a plate compactor near my pool before paving is laid?
A. It is very important that if a plate compactor is used close to the pool, the ground immediately surrounding the shell must be compacted thoroughly from the base of the pool to the edge beam. Failure to do so may create additional pressure on the exterior side of the shell causing it to bow or crack. We recommend to have the ground around the shell compacted by a professional company (Link Contractors Form)
Q. How soon after my pool is installed can I lay my pavers?
A. Generally as a rule of thumb, 6 to 8 weeks is the norm for a standard 8mtr fibreglass pool. There is also work which is involved in that time, generally 1 hour each day would be recommended to wash in sand around the shell in order to eliminate any air pockets or cavities which may exist in the backfill. Failure to do this may result in sunken pavers. Click Here
Q. How soon after my pool is installed can I lay my pavers if I have it Pencil Compacted?
A. Technically once the ground dries out a plate compactor can then compress the top layer of sand which will allow you to pave immediately. It is important to liase with your supervisor or customer liason officer before paving is laid. The conditions of contract may require you to wait till Handover is performed before any such work can commence, This will allow the pool company to make sure everything is in sound working order before paving is laid.
Q. Which way does my paving need to angle from the pool?
A. It is very important that your landscaper paves and prepares sufficient drainage away from the pool; failure to do may cause loss of warranty.
